Diving into the DC Universe once again, Legion of Super-Heroes is not one to miss.
Immediately thrown into retro comic-book graphics, and quick-interchanges of the superhero world, we see the planet Krypton destroyed, and Earth become Supergirl’s new reality. Finding it hard to adapt to her new home, and super-human powers, she seeks trust and comfort in her cousin Superman, who decides to take Kara (Supergirl) to the 31st century to enrol her in the Legion Academy. As we begin to see some familiar DC faces emerge, adjusting to yet again a new time-zone and an unrecognisable environment, Kara begins to feel more at peace, however not all is as it seems..
Torn by the truth of the past and present, morals and instinct is the only thing that can guide Kara through. This action-animation, jam-packed with superhero vs supervillain rivalry, viewers are emersed in unmatched battles, uncontrollable powers and colliding beliefs, as we start to question who can we really trust?
Distinguishing facts from gut feelings, Supergirl is the only one that can alter the trajectory of the future. Will she go against the Justice League Members, and make a life-changing decision for the entire galaxy and every superhero, civilian and villain in it? Fighting supremacy and justice in the form of ‘The Dark Circle’ as they emerge to inflict destruction, Kara has to define all expectations to change the course of time forever.
In true DC style we still receive our fair share of short witty moments, equipped with comical bursts and individual quirks; with every fight scene accompanied by an eccentric soundtrack, the viewer is unleashed into a truly immersive watch.
Legion of Super-Heroes – Special Features
The Legion Behind The Legion (New Featurette) – It took a heroic effort from a legion of writers, artists, animators and filmmakers to bring Legion of Super-Heroes to life. In this featurette, filmmakers and stars give us a deep dive into the making of the movie, from the original story idea through character development and final animation.
Meet the Legionnaires (New Featurette) – There are dozens and dozens of Legion members, many of whom are featured in Legion of Super-Heroes. Who made the cut, and why? Lucky for us, the filmmakers are here to introduce us to each one - and give us some background on who they are, and why they’re important to the movie.
Brainiac Attack: The Intellect Behind the Super-Villain (New Featurette) – In Legion of Super-Heroes, Brainiac 5 proves himself to be the pinnacle of all Brainiac iterations, but how did he become that way? In this featurette, filmmakers explain what we should we know about the 4 Brainiacs who came before him, and how – and why – Brainiac 5 chose his own path.
Down to Earth: The Story of Supergirl (New Featurette) – Supergirl’s narrow escape from Krypton and her arrival on Earth is just the beginning of our story (literally). In this featurette, filmmakers explain why they chose to center Legion of Super-Heroes on Supergirl, what the backstory is between her and Superman at the start of the movie, and what exactly is going on between her and Brainiac 5.
