What begins as a trip around the world, the expeditioners stumble across the bloody leftovers of a previous battle. With suspicions running high, an unsettling feeling spreads through the air; realising this is his time, we see Bruce Wayne return as Batman once again. After twenty years of planning, researching, and physical and mental preparation, the crew make their journey back to the city of Gotham. Upon Batman’s arrival, we see not a lot has changed, what remains as the homely, clean-cut, systematic city that formerly stood, the viewer cannot help but notice the uneasy presence that is looming.

Having witnessed his parents being killed as a young boy, Batman begins to unearth life-shattering secrets; as dark, family truths start to overspill, we compile the figures we can trust, and those that deceit us. As people are unmasking who they really are, Batman must make the un-nerving decision to avenge his parents’ fatal end and become Gotham’s saviour, but at what consequence?

Amongst all the intense action, we are still treated to DC’s quick-wit humour and retro, comic-book graphics. In true DC style, there are indicative components to watch out for, as well as traces of foreshadowing fragmented throughout.

In an emotionally charged battle between history and present day, Batman must make the ultimate sacrifice to determine the safety and future of Gotham, fighting a world beyond reason and science. Hungry for Gotham and the power within its walls, the acolytes of the evil cult of Gool endeavour to unlock a new reality, tearing down everything in their path. Clutching onto nothing but hope, resilience, and courage, a true test of friendship, parallel to pain and power, Bruce Wayne must pay the fundamental price..

‘The blood line can never escape the stain of sin’.

Torn from his past, Batman realises there can be only one outcome to break the eternal curse and save civilianisation. To vanquish in this conquest, he must embrace who he truly is..

But will peace ever prevail?
